Here at East Gadsden our seniors (age 55 and above) are referred to as the “Young At Heart”. Many still enjoying the fellowship and have been involved for nearly 40 years. If you’re looking for a place to connect with other older adults and stay young, here’s the group.
The 2010 annual planning meeting was held on Tuesday, January 12 with approximately 30 seniors attending. After enjoying a great meal, the activities and events calendar for the year was presented and approved. The theme for this year is “Renewing The commitment” to minister to other seniors whether at East Gadsden or in the community.
At this writing our activities and events have begun with a meeting (with Bro. Jerry Keeling) and a day trip to Catfish Cabin and the Whole Backstage in Guntersville.
The Young at Heart seniors at East Gadsden invites all seniors to come and enjoy the activities and feel the warmth of close friends.
Plans for 2010 include: · Tuesday - Lunch meeting with speakers or musicians · Friday Nite Delight - meals and entertainment · Saturday - Day trips such as Desoto State Park · Sunday, May 2 - Senior Day with Harper Shannon and Senior’s Family Lunch · Passion Play at Eureka Springs, Arkansas · Billy Graham Library at Charlotte, NC · Friday night - Just For Fun (game night) · Monday, December 6 - Young at Heart Christmas Dinner
2 Corinthians 4:15 - 16 (NIV) “All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
