In August of 2005 the East Gadsden Baptist Church called Allen Hudson to serve as Minister of Music and Youth.  God has in this short time blessed the youth and music ministry in a wonderful way. The youth choir (New Commandment) is very active and sings each and every Sunday in the evening service. They also do at least two musicals a year and a major choir tour every summer. They are constantly learning new music and sings in many different venues all the time. While the youth are very busy singing for the Lord, they are also very active in the other areas of youth activities. The youth have a wonderful, ongoing ministry to the Hanna Home (a home for abused mothers and their children).  Retreats are a big part of the youth ministry. The youth take a fall retreat and a winter retreat with great success. Sandwiched in between these retreats is the summer choir tour. In the summer of 2006 the choir toured Louisiana and Texas singing in such places as Minute Maid Park where they sang the national anthem for the Houston Astros and the Atlanta Braves baseball teams. While on this tour they sang in several churches, the Alamo in San Antonio, the River Walk, Sea World in San Antonio, the State Capital in Austin, Texas and the Louisiana Boardwalk in Shreveport, Louisiana. Next summer the choir is already making plans for a great tour to the Grand Canyon. This tour will have the choir singing in nine states before coming home.

Evangelism is a great part of the growth in the youth group. The youth are taught to care for and make every effort to tell all their friends about the saving love of Jesus. At East Gadsden Baptist Church, “each one reach one” is still in place. We have found if we reach the kids the parents will follow.
